Our trip in February was challenging and hard work but a blessing in so many ways. We worked and will continue to work with the same ministry partners. We have come so far with our ministry partners and our focus for what God is doing through Preston Trail is ever-more clear. e our home page for more details on what we will be doing...
Foodstep - www.kampiringisa.org
In February we had the pleasure of working with Foodstep again. During this trip we visited Kampiringisa, the children’s prison, and Home Coming, a fabulous home where about 30 kids that Nathalie removed from Kampiringisa get to stay, go to school, get the love that they deserve and are taught that they are valued in this world. At Kampringisa we were able to visit and love on the children that stay there. When we stepped off the bus, we were gathered in a circle and briefed about what we would see, smell and experience. A guard walked by us and Nathalie, the founder of Foodstep, whispered that the kids call the guard Miss 40. They have names for the guards based on how many beatings they give. We found out later that Miss 40’s name is actually Christine. Please pray for her to be redeemed and changed by God. We are confident that her heart can be changed and she can make a difference in these children’s lives.
This time there were about 200 kids at Kampiringisa but a lot of them were at school. School is a privilege in Uganda because it is not free. At Kampiringisa, the only way a child can go to school is if they are sponsored. We got a tour of the facility then got to sing and worship with the kids. We always love this part because all the hurt and pain turns to joy! It’s a life changing experience. Jason got to revisit his friends The Locomotive Boys that he connected with last time. They are into music and are planning to have a song ready when he returns. After we left Kampiringisa, we went to Home Coming. It’s truly amazing to see the transformation of these children when they are removed from Kampringisa. Nathalie has such a heart for these children and you can see God’s love in this place. Jason and the team will get the privilege of returning to both of these places in July. This time they will spend more time at the Home Coming and are going to do a Bible Day where they will do games, songs, activities and bible stories with the kids!! The bottom line will be to share how much God truly loves them!

Hesed International - www.hesedinternational.org
The majority of our time is spent with Hesed. Hesed’s mission is to be a catalyst for spiritual renewal and growth in the Anglican church in Uganda. In February, Jason got to give the message at one of the churches in downtown Jinja. Jason and I think if we ever lived in Uganda, we would go to this church. The people were so welcoming and appreciative. One of the most exciting things that happened this day was seeing some of the women we taught in July. A group of these women have now started their own bible study in their church and are going out into villages every week teaching them about health and hygiene!! How exciting is that?? Next was the conference…during the conference we taught both men and women leaders both biblical foundations and marriage. Again, Jason and the team going in July will be teaching men and women leaders about marriage and church leadership. They will have the opportunity to continue building cherished relationships with the same Men and Women we got to meet on our first trip in July 2011.
For Jason and I there is another big thing that God has placed on our hearts. This is Rajab, our bus driver and his friend Keith. In February, Rajab was our driver again and Keith was able to come spend the entire trip with us. This is such a huge blessing because we love these guys and love spending time getting to know them better. We recently found out that Rajab will be the driver again in July!! Horray!! Also, Keith is making it a priority to attend the pastors’ conference and continue growing in his knowledge of God’s word.
Jason and the rest of the team of 9 are currently working hard preparing the teaching materials and activities for the July trip and conference. Please pray for God’s wisdom, truth and love to be reflected through all they will do and say while in Uganda. We have been thinking and praying a great deal about the men, women and children we will meet along the way. We can’t wait to see what God does in and through us on this journey.
As always your partnership in this ministry in a crucial element to the success of this mission. We would love to hear from you… We value your words of encouragement, your prayers, and of course,.. financial support also keeps us moving. Please consider how you will be a part of this next trip, which is only a few short weeks away.
We are so grateful for all the prayers, encouragement and support you have already lavished upon us.
